Role objectives

Reporting to one of our workstream leads, and a key member of the delivery team this role is an essential enabler for our digital ambitions.  We’re on a journey which, in the next 2 years, will see our entire application estate become more agile and data driven with an API first approach at the heart of everything we do.  You will have the opportunity for involvement in projects that touch every part of this market leading energy business from customer self service through to heavy data science and analytics as we strive to answer the big questions facing our industry.

We deliver software in an agile fashion, working in scrum teams alongside business analysts and product owners to deliver value for the business.  Our digital offering is constantly evolving and, with a new focus on data access we expect this to be a major area of improvement for our customers, building on the successes we’ve already seen.

You’ll be working collaboratively with different areas of our business, most obviously with our customer services team but also with teams such as data science to provide and interpret customer statistics, process improvement to drive change through the organisation and a wide range of other teams. During sprints you’ll be responsible for delivering technical items that you have committed to, and given the tools and support you need to achieve success.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Delivery

  • Develop changes and new functionality for Gazprom systems based on agreed business requirements
  • Work with Lead developers to develop accurate roadmaps based on functional complexity
  • Contribute to the future direction of our technology estate
  • Evaluate and, where relevant, implement new technologies to improve the delivery of solutions
  • Work with Lead developers to utilise best practices and group standards where applicable

Skills & Competencies

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to explain technical detail to non-technical colleagues
  • Collaborative working style to engage with the rest of the team and ensure delivery
  • Takes accountability and full ownership of the tasks assigned and actively seeks tasks that have been missed
  • Ability to assess risk and provided recommendations for mitigations
  • Enjoys working autonomously to master area of development
  • Improving technological approaches
  • Managing operations and delivering services
  • Multilingual – pick up new programming languages fast
  • Optimising own development process and workspace/workflow

 

Experience

  • Key:
    • Demonstratable experience in a commercial development environment
    • Experience in the use of the following technologies
      • C#/.Net 4.5 and above or .Net Core
      • TSQL on SQL Server
      • RESTful APIs
      • js (or other javascript frontend libraries)

    Desirable:

    • Experience working in an Agile delivery team
    • Exposure to / experience in the following technologies
      • Unit testing & dependency injection
      • Entity Framework
      • Typescript
      • Bootstrap
      • Continuous integration / deployment
      • Docker / containerisation technologies
      • Git
